Fishing Alaska Style

I’ve fished since I was ten and love the sport. But now I have to adjust my thoughts a bit on size. What was once a normal size fish, say around 8 to 10 inches, has now become the bait. : )

Our whole family went fishing on a 4 day charter, out of Valdez, AK. Most charters are one

-day affairs, so the boats tear out as fast as possible and you have a few hours to fish. The five of us spent four days immersed in a great Alaska adventure.

The weather [...]

Grizzly Bear Cam

Have you ever watched bears catching salmon in a river? Well thanks to technology we can all watch the brown bears at McNeil River in Alaska. One of my favorite pastimes is to watch the grizzlies catching salmon on the bear cam. These grizzlies or brown bears gather in the river located in the McNeil

River State Game Sanctuary. The sanctuary covers about 200 square miles with no roads and has the largest amount of wild brown bears in the world.

It’s normal to see [...]

Moose In Alaska

I didn’t know what to expect when we moved to Alaska. So much is written about this great state but I was not prepared for what I found. I came here with wonder and a little apprehension but there were many surprises and changes in my expectations. What I found was a secret love for a wild,

untamed and vast land.

This blog is all about Alaska but mostly about the things you won’t read about in the tourist articles. I’m starting with the moose because [...]
